Rooibos (pronounced roy-boss) is also known as 'Redbush', and it grows in the arid, stony shrub land of the Cederberg Mountains. The fibrous branches and leaves are harvested each year, bundled and transported to the factory, and then shredded into small needle-like particles. These are then dampened and oxidised in vast yards under the intense South African sun until they turn a rich, rusty-red colour. The brew from the pretty red leaves is full of antioxidants and Vitamin C but contains no caffeine, making it a soothing, healthy drink for children and adults alike.
