We love the wonderful story of how tea first grew in China’s Yunnan Province! It is said that herbalist Shen Nong discovered its wonderful taste and health-giving benefits in around 2737 BC, whilst waiting for his drinking water to boil one day. A few leaves drifted down from an overhanging branch into the simmering water - he liked the aroma and taste of the infusion and the fact that it kept him awake and focused for longer than usual, and so tea was born! Yunnan is still home to many ancient tea trees that can live for up to 3,000 years.
